I know we all get busy, you WOULD think that we’d notice the soap scum build up and mildew at the bottom of our shower curtains or liners since its something we use daily. I know it’s something thats not always noticed, or if it is noticed, its one of those things that you think your gonna remember to buy when your in Target. Well for those of us who keep forgetting to buy a new one, here is how you can wash yours in the washer and restore it like new.
Ok, don’t judge me, I honestly knew there was soap build up on my curtain liner, but I never realized how much until I was cleaning and took my shower curtain off to see the liner. Here is what it was like before. EWWW!!! My liner is always covered by a thick dark shower curtain, so its pretty dark from the inside, Im just say (my excuse for the overlook) LOL
My shower curtain liner is Polyester, I bought it over 3 years ago for $15. Sine having it so long, I know it was worth paying $15 for instead of $5-$10 for those plastic liners. After every wash in the washing machine it always come outs like brand new.
So this is how to wash it:
First, add your shower curtain or liner to the washing machine.
Next, add Ammonia to the detergent & bleach drawer.
Now, Run the washer on the hottest/sanitary cycle.
Now, If you have a plastic liner, it shouldn’t be added to the dryer. If you have a Polyester/Cotton liner follow the care tag on how to clean & dry it. Most of them (like mine) say tumble dry low. This is how mine turned out after I washed & dried it.
See! Just like its brand new! Now if yours doesn’t come clean completely after the first wash, wash it a second time, but with vinegar (or bleach if its white)
So what do you think? Have you tried washing yours in the washing machine?
