You have all this Salt in your cabinet but hardly ever use it? (I dont like salty foods so I dont use it alot, and no my food is not bland) But there are THOUSANDS of other uses, some of them are actually handy & even brow raising. Check them out below. My Favorites are highlighted.
- Test the freshness of eggs in a cup of salt water, fresh eggs sink, bad eggs float
- To extend the life of a toothbrush, soak it in saltwater before you use it
- Add a little salt to the water your cut flowers will stand in for a longer life
- Clean you iron by rubbing some salt on the damp cloth on the ironing surface
- Adding a little salt to the water when cooking foods in a double boiler will make the food cook faster
- Sprinkle salt on your shelves to keep ants away
- Use salt for killing weeds in your lawn
- A tiny pinch of salt with egg whites makes them beat up fluffier
- Before using new glasses, soak them in warm salty water for awhile
- Salt improves the taste of cooking apples
- Freshen sponges by soaking them in salt water
- Add raw potatoes to stews and soups that are too salty
- Gelatin sets more quickly when a dash of salt is added
- Fruits put in mildly salted water after peeling will not discolor

- After washing a cutting board with soap and water, rub it with a damp cloth dipped in salt. Let the cutting board sit for a while and then rinse. There are antiseptic reasons to use salt as well
- To remove onion or garlic odors, rub your fingers with salt moistened with vinegar.
- To keep cheese from molding, wrap it in a cloth dampened with saltwater before refrigerating.
- Sooth Poison Ivy, Soaking the exposed part in hot saltwater helps hasten the end to poison ivy irritation.
- Soak new candles in a strong salt solution for a few hours, then dry them well. When burned they will not drip.
- Kill Poison Ivy, Mix three pounds of salt with a gallon of soapy water and apply to leaves and stems with a sprayer.
- Toss salt on flames from food dripping in barbecue grills to reduce the flames and calm the smoke without cooling off the coals
